Ambassador Bonaventure Adjavor
H.E. Bonaventure Adjavor serves as Ghana’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, having presented his credentials to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa on November 10, 2025. He was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama on July 7, 2025, and holds concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Mozambique and the Union of the Comoros.
Professional Background
H.E. Bonaventure Adjavor is a distinguished career diplomat with over two decades of strategic leadership in international relations, specializing in economic diplomacy, regional integration, and trade facilitation.
He possesses a proven track record in strengthening bilateral ties, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and managing complex diplomatic missions across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Currently serving as Ghana’s Ambassador in Zimbabwe, the mandate of H.E. Bonaventure Adjavor is focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Zimbabwe, Ghana and Mozambique, and Ghana and the Comoros, through the operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), as well as through targeted efforts at deepening private-sector linkages in sectors such as mining, agriculture, energy, and tourism among others.
Prior to his appointment as an Ambassador, he served as Director of the Economic, Trade, and Investment Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ghana, during which he was instrumental in enhancing Ghana’s economic engagements, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and representing the Ministry at major international fora.
He was also instrumental in formulating policies to enhance Ghana’s economic engagements and trade relations, as well as the country’s investment promotion efforts to attract FDI. Additionally, he chaired preparatory meetings for major international fora, such as the 8th Ghana-Germany Economic Forum, and the first investment forum in Finland, Denmark and Sweden underscoring his leadership in international economic diplomacy.
Diplomatic Service
• His extensive Diplomatic career includes serving as Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Minister Plenipotentiary/ Deputy Head of Mission at the Ghana Embassy in Cotonou, Benin and in Paris, France, as well as Head of Chancery and Minister Counsellor in Tokyo, Japan.
• Regional Integration: He previously led the ECOWAS National Unit for Ghana and served on the governing board of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).

• AfCFTA Champion – He is a vocal proponent for the practical implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), advocating for the removal of non-tariff barriers and the empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
• Economic Integration – He focuses on policy reforms that directly benefit businesses and small-scale traders, viewing regional blocs as pillars for national development. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in ECOWAS initiatives, serving on various ECOWAS committees and commissions related to administration, finance, trade, customs, and transport. He has also contributed to policy development, including leading the team for the preparation of ECOWAS strategic policy document for Ghana, and has presented numerous papers at international conferences and seminars on topics such as ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS), regional integration, and economic diplomacy.
Education & Publications
H.E. Bonaventure Adjavor holds an M.A. in International Affairs, and a B.A. in Social Work with Sociology, both from the University of Ghana, Legon. He has also undertaken numerous specialist training programs in areas such as performance management in the public service, multilateral diplomacy, cross-cultural negotiations, financial programming, trade promotion strategies and Regional Integration.
